I am beyond excited!

I just received a certificate for completing an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) course.

Have you ever heard of EFT or Tapping for short?

It is a healing technique that can help in so many ways by using fingertip tapping on certain meridian points.  It is sort of like acupuncture minus the needles which is great for kids.  EFT can help with eliminating or reducing anxiety, fear of flying or public speaking and so much more.

The way it works is like acupuncture. EFT utilizes the Chinese meridian system, which consists of energy circuits running through our bodies.  But unlike acupuncture, EFT is directed at restoring balance to our body’s energy.  It is believed that restoring this energy can relieve symptoms of a negative experience or the emotions caused from that experience.

Based on Chinese medicine, meridian points are thought of as areas of the body where energy flows through. These pathways help balance energy flow to maintain your health. Any imbalance can influence disease or sickness which is what we don’t want.  EFT is very simple to use and when done proper can provide great benefits.

I have been using EFT for about 3 years.  I first heard of tapping watching one of Gabrielle Bernstein’s lectures on converting fear to faith. She demonstrated it on several people in the audience.  She found their fear then walked them through a series of tapping on the meridian points and saying certain phrases.  The people reported to feel better.  So I thought I would try it.

I tried tapping on myself and my husband and we both found that it works.

Then I tried it on my daughter.

My daughter is an ice skater and had learned a new jump that she was going to have to perform at her next competition.  She was really nervous and anxious about  performing her new jump so I thought this is the perfect time to try tapping.

We sat down on her bed and went through a few rounds of tapping until she felt better about performing the jump.

Depending on how rooted the issue you have depends on how many times you have to do the tapping.  She got this fear from the older girls who always talked about how nervous they were to do this jump.  It’s funny how we take on other people’s anxieties.

Now, we were at the completion and she was ready to compete.  This was not just any competition, it was a qualifying competition for National Showcase.  Because she wanted to go to the National Showcase with her friends from skating, she had to skate up 4 levels. This was tough enough but then only three of us were there to support her and watch her performance. This really upset her. Could there be anymore pressure on this the poor girl?

I asked her if she even wanted to perform, I had gone into mommy mode instead of thinking about what is best for her.  She is tough and said she wanted to skate but I found her sitting on the ground next to a vending machine almost in tears. She was so upset because people she wanted there to watch her had not made the trip to see her perform. She had to come in first through fourth place in order to qualify and perform her jump for the first time.  There were other competitions coming up but she wanted to qualify at this one.

I could feel that she was extremely anxious so I thought why not tap it out right here and we did.  I always make it fun and we laughed while doing the tapping.

She felt better and said okay I can do this.

I said okay baby girl go have fun!!

She went with her coach and I went to the stands to watch her.  I was now a mess, I think I took her nerves from her while tapping.  LOL!!

She went out there like it was nothing and performed better than she ever had.  She was the littlest one out of the 8 that performed.

And, she made it!!  She got 4th and qualified for Nationals.  What a huge sigh of relief!!

Since that day I have not had to do any tapping on her for anxiety to perform.  She now thrives off of it and loves performing.  She gets to enjoy what she loves.  Actually since this day all of her anxiety has been reduced or disappeared.

If your child or someone you know suffers from anxiety you should try tapping.  Here is a link to the Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner.  He can help you get started.  https://www.thetappingsolution.com/.

This was 3 years ago and I thought I should probably make sure I am getting the full benefits out of tapping so I took this certification class and I am now certified!!  I am so excited to see where this can go.

Happy Tapping!!
